Landscape

Before turning to fine art photography, Morten Qvale built a career as an international fashion photographer, working with supermodels like Claudia Schiffer and Helena Christensen, celebrities such as Björn Borg, Donald Sutherland, and Calvin Klein, and shooting campaigns for brands including Oscar de la Renta, H&M, L’OrĂ©al, IBM, and Reebok. His work was featured in leading magazines like Vanity Fair, ELLE, and Men’s Health.
Yet it was only after discovering the work of Ansel Adams that Qvale found his true passion as a photographer. Deeply inspired by Adams’ approach to nature and light, Qvale immersed himself in large format photography, often using 4×5″ film cameras or constructing high-resolution panoramas from dozens of images captured with 100-megapixel digital systems.
Combined with his decades of experience in traditional darkroom printing and over 30 years working with Photoshop and digital techniques, Qvale’s Landscape series is a testament to technical excellence and artistic vision. His images are rich in tonal nuance—from deep blacks to delicate highlights—revealing nature with both precision and poetry.
