Anna Nicole Smith

Anna Nicole Smith was one of the defining supermodels of her time, as well as a celebrated Playboy Playmate. I had a shoot booked with her through Elite Model Management in New York.
The evening before the shoot, I was invited to the Playmate of the Year party at The Plaza—an unforgettable night, made even more special by spending time with Lou Reed.
The following day, we met at Sun Studio on Broadway. We were the very first crew to shoot in their newly opened rooftop studio. The space was raw and unfinished—there wasn’t even a sound system. At one point, Anna sent her bodyguard out to buy a boombox so we could have music on set.
Anna was a devoted admirer of Marilyn Monroe, and throughout the shoot she sang “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend,” bringing a playful, nostalgic energy to the entire day.
