Wenche Foss

I have photographed Wenche Foss several times. She was truly Norway’s number one diva. For one particular shoot, I had arranged to have a Cadillac placed in the studio as a prop. When Wenche arrived, she looked at the car and immediately said, “I am not taking pictures in that car.”
Wenche loved driving, and as it turned out, her driver’s license had been taken away just two weeks earlier. That gave the moment a certain edge—there was something both firm and a little bittersweet in her reaction.
