What this website collects, why, and what you can ask me to do about it.

Who is responsible

This website is run by Qvale Studios AS, Østre Aker vei 203, 0975 Oslo, Norway, on behalf of the photographer Morten Qvale. If you have a question about your personal data, or want it corrected or deleted, write to morten@mortenqvale.com and I will answer personally.

When you write to me

The enquiry forms on this site ask for your name, email address, phone number, the edition size you are interested in, and your message. That information is sent by email to me and to Anniken Fegth, and a copy is stored in the website’s own database.

I use it for one thing only: to answer you, and to keep track of our conversation if it continues. It is never sold, rented, or passed to anyone outside the studio.

The newsletter

If you sign up for the newsletter, I keep your name and email address for that purpose. You will receive a confirmation email first — you are not subscribed until you click it.

Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you are removed, without explanation and without hard feelings. You can also just write to me and I will do it for you.

Visitor statistics

I use Google Analytics to see how many people visit the site and which photographs they look at. It tells me that a page was viewed, roughly which country the visitor came from, and what kind of device was used.

It does not tell me who you are. Google does not store the IP addresses of visitors from the EU and EEA, and I have no way of connecting a visit to a name — not even my own visits.

I look at these numbers perhaps once a month, and the only decision they inform is which work to write about next.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file a website leaves in your browser. This site uses them for two purposes: to keep the site working as you move between pages, and for the visitor statistics described above.

You can delete cookies, or block them entirely, in your browser’s settings. The site will still work.

Who else handles the data

Three companies process data on my behalf, and none of them may use it for their own purposes:

• Domeneshop AS (Norway) — hosts the website and its email
• MailerLite (Lithuania, EU) — sends the newsletter and holds the subscriber list
• Google Ireland Ltd — provides the visitor statistics

How long it is kept

• Enquiries — kept as long as the conversation may still be relevant. Ask me to delete yours and I will.
• Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe.
• Visitor statistics — 14 months, then deleted automatically by Google.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask me what I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or erased, ask for a copy of it, and object to how it is used. Write to morten@mortenqvale.com. There is no form and no procedure — an email is enough, and I will reply within a month.

If you think I have handled your data badly and my answer does not satisfy you, you may complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Nothing here is retroactive.
